Artimus Lamont Bentley (October 25, 1973 – January 19, 2005) who is more popular as Lamont Bentley, was an American actor and rapper. He was best known for his character as Hakeem Campbell. He played the role on the UPN sitcom Moesha and the spin-off The Parkers.

Lamont made his acting debut in the film “Tales Through the Hood” as Crazy K. It’s Lamont’s frantic, sadistic portrayal of the gangster trapped in his psychotic nightmare that speaks volumes about his versatility.

On the other end of the spectrum from Crazy K was his role as Hakeem Campbell in the UPN sitcom “Moesha,” which also featured Brandy and Brandy’s teenage r&b star, Brandy. 2005

On January 19, 2005, Bentley died in a single-car accident in Ventura County, southern California, just after midnight. Near Simi Valley, he was on Highway 118. (30 miles northwest of Los Angeles). There were reports from witnesses that Bentley’s vehicle was speeding toward the Rocky Peak Fire Road exit ramp.

The vehicle smashed through a chain-link fence and rolled down an embankment after running a stop sign. At least five cars collided with Bentley after he was thrown from the vehicle. Lamont Bentley death was confirmed at 12:23 AM after multiple blunt force injuries struck him. Granada Hills, Los Angeles, is where Bentley’s mother and two daughters lived with him.

The Serenity Funeral Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, held a memorial service for Bentley on January 24, 2005. At Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hollywood Hills, he was laid to rest.
