The brilliant career of Emma hit a blow due to constant coach changes. She ended her contract with Richardson and went to Nigel Sear but only for two months. Then she hired Angelique Kerber, and they both worked together only for five months. For the US Open, she hired Tursunov who lasted for 15 matches.  Then Emma decided to go with the famous coach Sebastian Sachs, but they parted ways after 10 matches. This irregularity is said to be one of the main reasons for Emma’s decline in gaming technique.

Another reason is her injuries and illness. She had COVID-19 and had to delay her practice sessions. She also went through minor surgeries which forced her to step back from Wimbledon.
