What Is Prince Edward Island PNP?

The Prince Edward Island PNP (PEI PNP) is a Provincial Nominee Program that invites foreign skilled professionals to work and settle in the region. By applying and qualifying for this program, you get a provincial nomination certificate. Using this, you can apply for and expedite your Canadian permanent residency program. 

There are categories to the PEI PNP, which are:

  • Prince Edward Island PNP Express Entry is for those interested in working and living in Prince Edward Island. The applicants hold an edge if their skills match the current requirements of the labour market. This express entry system is similar to that followed by the federal government of Canada. 
  • Labour Impact Category applies to those who possess the skills currently demanded in the labour market is PEI. There are three subdivisions to the labour Impact Category. They are:
  • Skilled Worker Stream is for those already working or holding a permanent job offer from an employer in the province. 
  • Critical Worker Stream is when the worker is critical to the employer for their skills. Hence, the employer is willing to sponsor them for their permanent residency in PEI. 

What Is The Eligibility Requirements For A Prince Edward PNP?

Each of the above categories in the Prince Edward PNP has its eligibility criteria. We shall focus on the Skilled Worker Stream and the Critical Worker Stream. 

Eligibility For Skilled Worker Stream: 

  • Must be 21-59 years
  • Must have an employment offer from a PEI employer. The offer must be in skill categories of 0, A or B as per the NOC. This job offer must be long-term, that is, at least for a 2-year duration. 
  • Alternatively, the candidate can already be employed in PEI with a valid work permit.
  • Possession of funds to settle in the province
  • At least two years of full-time work experience in their area of skills
  • 2-year post-secondary degree
  • Legal status in the current country of residence
  • Must be proficient in English or French with a minimum score of 4.0 in IELTS. Alternatively, the candidate must have undergone education from an institution where the primary mode of communication was English or French.
  • Show genuine interest to settle down in the province.
  • Be willing to attend an interview write the immigration office staff in PEI.

Prince Edward PNP, the employment offered also has certain eligibility requirements.

They are:

  • It should be for a minimum period of 2 years
  • It should suit the applicant’s education, skillset and experience 
  • It should be located in PEI
  • The wage rate offered must meet federal and provincial standards
  • The employment contract must be verifiable and must include settlement support 

Requirements For Critical Worker Stream

The applicant requirements for this category include:

  • Be 21-59 years old. 
  • Hold a valid work permit.
  • Must have legal status in the country of residence
  • Have sufficient finances to settle in the province
  • Have a minimum of high school graduate education
  • Have spent at least six months as a full-time employee for an employer in PEI
  • Prove Proficiency in English or French by obtaining a minimum overall score of 4.0 in IELTS. Specifically, the candidate must obtain 

What Is the Process to Apply for The Prince Edward PNP?

An experienced Immigration agency will guide you through each of the steps involved in the process to apply for a PEI PNP. They are:

  1. Check Eligibility Criteria – Take the help of a trusted immigration agency and select a suitable immigration program for your profile. Make sure you meet all the eligibility criteria for the program. 
  • Create Profile In Expression of Interest – Create your profile in the Expression of Interest program. You will also need to provide a valid email ID, proper correspondence information and ID Proofs. 
  • Submit Profile Under Your Stream – Submit your profile under the Stream of Prince Edward PNP most suited to your qualifications. Make sure you choose the right profile, as this increases your chances for selection. Once you submit the profile, it is available to the immigration authorities for review.
  • Wait For Invitation To Apply & Submit Online Application – If your profile seems in order and you’re selected, you will receive an invitation to apply. This invitation is from the immigration authorities. You will be given 60 days to fill and submit the online application form. You will also need to attach the pre-authorised payment form to your online application. 
  • Obtain Provincial Nominee Certificate & Submit PR Application – After the duration needed for processing, you will receive your Provincial Nominee certificate. Once you receive it, you will need to fill and submit the application for PR. Once you receive the confirmation of your permanent residency application, you can travel to PEI.
